Home from the hospital
Here’s the latest:
Pop was discharged from Fox Chase yesterday.
Pop had a new IV permanent port inserted (PICC line).
Pop had his knee drained again.
He needs to receive his IV antibiotics (to treat his knee infection) at home for the next 25 days.
We will be giving these to Pop while he is at home.
There was some consideration of putting Pop in a nursing home or at Central Montgomery Hospital to receive his IV antibiotics. Pop is not a candidate to go to the rehab floor of Central Montgomery Medical Center as I had hoped. He does not have a “rehab” diagnosis.
It is not a good idea to put him in a nursing home for a month. For a lot of reasons. Mostly because of common acquired infections (MRSA) that patients get while in a nursing home. Since Pop’s immune system is low, if he were to get this infection it could cause serious problems.
Anyway, Pop is happy to be home. He’s is good spirits. We have plans to take him to the Phillies game this Sunday if all goes well.
Keep him in prayers.
